Buying concentrates is one way to save money on your most frequently-used cleaning products—but so is buying bulk! Thankfully, superstores like Costco make that easy.

If you’re a Costco cardholder (or convinced you should be after reading this article) here are some home cleaning items you should definitely be buying at Costco from here on out:

Just because it’s bulk doesn’t mean it can’t be green. Not only does this exclusive-to-Costco detergent contain no dyes or perfumes (making it ideal for sensitive skin types), it’s also high-efficiency (use less!) and bulk (get more!), so you can get up to 126 loads out of one detergent purchase.

When the sponge is heavy-duty (and can be reused multiple times after a quick soak), 71 cents a sponge seems like a fair price to pay.

Most conventional dishwasher detergent pod packages contain enough for 40 loads of dishes, rounding out to around 30 cents a load. This Costco option is comparable quality-wise, but you’ll get so much more for your money when you pay just a dime per load.

Amazon sells a smaller option that ends up at about 20 cents a load, so you’re definitely getting the better deal when you buy in bulk. 

Wall scuffs? Dirty counters or tile? Mr. Clean has your back—and at Costco, the price is magic, too. At 78 cents each compared to more than a dollar when you buy a two- or four-pack, these magic erasers are a bulk must-buy. 

These germ-killing wipes come in handy for disinfecting hard, cross-contaminated surfaces. They also travel well in individual packs, making wiping down your tray table easy when you travel. More good news: They cost less just 3 cents per wipe, about half as much as non-bulk, leading brands. 

Another fan favorite: This lightly-scented, definitely cost-effective liquid detergent, which is exclusive to Costco. You’ll get about 126 loads out of this bulk option (a dime a load), which is a steal compared to 15 to 25 cents per lavender-scented load from other, non-bulk brands.

Any refills you’ll cycle through quickly—hand soap, dish soap, Swiffer wet or dry cloths—will typically be a better buy in bulk. These dry cloths are no exception at 21 cents each (compared to an average of 25 cents per cloth elsewhere). 

Another rule of thumb: Liquid, especially refills, are always more cost-effective when bought in bulk. Case in point: This gallon of multipurpose cleaner costs around 20 cents an ounce, while a smaller-sized spray can will ring in at 30 cents or more.
