I love doing this post. It’s so OPTIMISTIC. Who knew that a small, light, affordable bag would stand for freedom and the prospect of getting away (anywhere!) on one of the upcoming WARM spring and summer weekends. Here’s a totally new list, rebuilt and added to from our Best Weekend Bags of 2015 list. Check it out and, as always, leave us your picks and comments below. That’s how these lists get better. 🙂

This could be your forever tote. Made by Virginia based Etsy seller, AwlSnap (cute right?) this bag is built to last with leather, waxed canvas and coper. It’s designed with versatility in mind – tough enough for camping, but perfectly sized for jet-setting and you can carry it as a bag or wear it as a backpack. Each product is handmade and comes with a lifetime guarantee, so you know it is a worthwhile investment.

Customizable and large enough for luxuriously long weekends, this Kith & Kin bag can be as muted or as funky as your heart desires. “Waxed canvas has been a beloved textile for centuries. The durable strength of the fabric is water resistant, and wipes clean with a dry cloth. We like the contrast of old and new – waxed canvas, sturdy leather, and pops of color through bold zippers and ethnic touches.”

Basic and breezy, the Le Mans weekender has a sort of classic summer vibe. The simple and functional design of cotton and leather makes this bag joyfully unfussy while remaining eye catching and usefully sized.

Available in a wide variety and fun patterns, the Baggallini Weekender is a strong option for the Nylon fans in the audience. With plenty of interior and exterior pockets, and a flat base to provide the bag some structure, this is a fun option for those who like to pack and go.

Aside from being wonderfully eye-catching, The Getaway includes one feature that helps solve one of the most common packing dilemmas, “Expands in a zip for spontaneous shopping.” Pack what you need, and go home with all the souvenirs you want.

Another breezy Anthropologie find, the Monterey comes in beachy stripes with a removable cross body strap and a tassel for some western flair. It’s made of cotton canvas and has those beautiful leather handles, so this is a bag that will stick around for a while.

Another fun, summery striped option, the Pike is “Inspired by our love for adventure, this weekender bag is essential for a getaway or a long journey. Perfect as a carry on or travel bag, this weekender is a must-have. Made in Peru, ‘the Pike’ will help you be ready for anything!”

If you hear weekend away and immediately think “beach”, this bag has got your name on it. Large, durable and most of all water resistant, this is a great bag for a sandy, sunny weekend. “Adorned with short leather straps for easy hand holding plus compatible with a matching leather strap with shoulder panel, this water-resistant, two-toned carry-all offers a blast of cheer and utility to your days.”

Cool basics wunderkid, Everlane, offers us this super affordable, twill weekender. Nothing too fancy going on, just clean well made design. And if you happen to be an impulse buyer (or an impulse vacationer) who lives in New York or San Francisco, you can get this bag delivered to you in one hour with Everlane Now.

And last, but certainly not least, we have this nautical option from Baggu. “A roomy and durable canvas bag for weekend travel or everyday toting. Updated design features exterior pocket for easy access on the go. Two sets of handles for in hand carrying or over the shoulder toting. Fits perfectly in the overhead bin.”
