Name: Betsy (6 months)
Location: Chicago, IL

Color Inspiration: Color inspiration for the room came in the form of a quilt, made for baby Betsy by her Great Aunt Betsy. As soon as Great Aunt Betsy gave us the quilt we knew it was a perfect inspiration piece. Betsy's quilt is beautifully made and filled with love, exactly the sentiment we want for her nursery! Betsy's room doesn't have any windows and can be quite dark, so the colors used in the quilt - red, blue, yellow, orange, pink & green - were good candidates to brighten things up and bring some little girl sweetness to an industrial-style loft space.

Tip for Using Color: My tip for using color is to keep in mind that color can come from more than just paint (although I love paint too!). A primary consideration when planning Betsy's room décor was the fact that we live in an industrial-style loft with high ceilings; her bedroom also has a ½ wall, open to our entryway. Painting requires scaffolding, and any color we use in her room is visible from the rest of the house. We decided early to forgo painting right now - having a baby is hard enough without dealing with scaffolding! Instead, we've incorporated color into the room through fabric and accessories. The 2 biggest color pops come from blue shag rug and the 3' x 6', over sized, fabric-covered bulletin boards. Books, pillows, toys and art add additional pops of color throughout the room. We're already looking forward to the day when Betsy creates some art that can be displayed on her bulletin boards - adding even more color to the room!

Colors Used: The colors we used are all inspired by Betsy's quilt from Great Aunt Betsy. Although we kept the existing neutral wall color, every color of the rainbow is displayed in the room in some form! Her room features primary colors, with splashes of pink and gold to keep it girly.

Thanks for your colorful entry Katie and good luck!
