Classic Toys: Best Building Blocks

Classic Toys: Best Building Blocks

There are some toys that will never ever go out of style. It doesn't matter if we've entered the digital age, or if the future is filled with holograms and virtual reality simulations. Kids need blocks. Beautiful, tactile, hands-on items that help those little hands and eyes coordinate together.

Each age will use blocks differently of course. Babies will prefer to gum them, while you stack them to keep your own mind occupied. Toddlers will be proudest of a 3-block tall tower, while pre-schoolers will finally want to build out as well as up. But whatever age you're working with, blocks are still a necessity. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Russian Building Blocks
  2. Kubix 40 Letters and Numbers Blocks
  3. Flexible Building Blocks
  4. Upper and Lower Case Blocks
  5. Miller Goodman Shapemaker Blocks
  6. Citiblocs
  7. Twig Blocks
