They say the fifth character in “Sex and the City” was New York City itself. And in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” the honorary additional members of the Monterey Five are the ladies’ gorgeous mansions. Though the characters live in Monterey, California, the majority of the houses used as filming locations in the show are located in Los Angeles. Fans especially love Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Ed (Adam Scott) Mackenzie’s stunning beachfront mansion. But if you think it looks familiar, you’re absolutely right.

As I Am Not a Stalker, a blog dedicated to sharing details about popular filming locations, pointed out all the way back in 2017, Madeline and Ed’s home has been featured on television before. Fans of Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” may remember the beach house, which is located on Broad Beach Road in Malibu, as the exterior of the Stewart family home.

The Disney Channel show, which aired from 2006 until 2011, only used the rear exterior shot of the house. “Big Little Lies,” however, uses both the exterior and interior of the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion. I Am Not a Stalker also notes that the exterior was used in the “Melrose Place” spinoff “Models Inc.” and the ‘90s Dick Van Dyke series “Diagnosis Murder.”

If you want to live out your wildest “Big Little Lies” (hey, or “Hannah Montana”) fantasies, the Malibu home is available for rent starting at $3,000 a night. You can recreate the dramatic “Big Little Lies” intro on one of the multiple private decks and sing your favorite Hannah Montana songs while you prepare dinner in the massive fully-equipped chef’s kitchen. It’s truly the best of both worlds.

“Big Little Lies” returns to HBO on Sunday, June 9th at 9 pm ET.
