Here’s How You Can Virtually Attend Biltmore’s Christmas Tree Raising Ceremony
Every year, the Asheville, North Carolina Biltmore mansion—America’s largest home built by George Biltmore in 1895—hosts a Christmas tree raising event during the holiday season. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual tree raising will be held virtually this year, which means anyone and everyone can attend.
“This Christmas Eve marks the 125th anniversary of George Vanderbilt welcoming friends and family to Biltmore House for the very first time,” the Biltmore website reads. “Commemorate the occasion with us Wednesday, November 4 at 5 p.m.”
The 35-foot Fraser fir is installed and decorated with a myriad of lights and ornaments in Biltmore’s massive Banquet Hall. The virtual event will give a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into installing the tree and the decorating process.
“From an intimate new perspective, you will discover the details behind the wondrous transformation of a humble tree into the glittering Christmas centerpiece of America’s Largest Home,” the site reads.
The Biltmore is currently open during reduced hours and is following North Carolina’s Phase 2.5 reopening plan, which includes limited capacities within the home and surrounding grounds.
