From the designer who brought us the Dress For Dinner Napkins comes a dual use item we actually see ourselves using around the kitchen where we've got plenty of hard to reach storaged away items (because in a small space, using the vertical is essential), while also providing an additional receptacle for trash...

The Bin Step is a design we hope to see at our local Target or Container Store in the near future, since it hits both marks of everyday utility and small footprint, two characteristics we expect for anything new added to our studio apartment where space is at a premium. Right now we have to haul out a slim, but tall, step ladder to reach our cookbooks and the KitchenAid mixer, so something like the Bin Step would be a useful inbetween option when we just need a couple steps of additional reach while also providing somewhere we could either use for storage/waste. Simple idea, simple execution, but simply desirable!
