We have fond memories of eating breakfast with our father while keeping a close watch on the birdfeeder in the backyard. Our most frequent visitors were cardinals, robins and sparrows and it was very exciting when a more exotic bird stopped by for a snack. We spotted these affordable kits for simple, wooden birdhouses for sale by two young, entrepreneurial brothers and thought they'd make terrific gifts for kids this year.
Meet Brad (12) and Blake (16), sons of blogger Cindy of Skip To My Lou (whose projects we love to highlight here at Ohdeedoh. See a few here, here and here.) They've made birdhouse construction easy by putting together a kit (only 15 bucks) with the wooden pieces, hardware and instructions. Assembly only involves 8 nails and is BYOH (bring your own hammer). They come packaged in a fabric bag and are all ready for gifting.
Two kits are only $25 and if your kids want the extra challenge you can purchase a PDF of the instructions alone for $1.50. Most kids will need supervision and possibly a little help putting these together and we think this is a great opportunity to spend some quality time together (or perhaps some "qt" with a visiting aunt, uncle or grandparent).
