There's no denying the power of black and white in contrasting combination. Two opposites, they cultivate drama and intrigue in any room where they star. Bathrooms are a perfect laboratory for experimenting with bold black and white decor ideas — consider the ones we spotted in these fourteen spaces for your own bold black and white bathroom!

Thick black and white stripes in a shower curtain grab the eyes in a bathroom with white wood walls and floor. But Roger and Chris weren't afraid to also mix in a bright color, knowing that the bold black and white stripes could take it.

Take an all-white room with a simple gray floor, add in a black and white pattern in a large scale, and you've got a recipe for a modern and minimal black and white bathroom.

In the dynamic bathroom above, all-white surfaces are dotted by graphic black patterns in wallpaper and textiles while metallic gold surfaces punctuate a simple but dynamic space.

The above bathroom works with a fairly traditional black and white tile floor by adding an all black wall with chalkboard paint, and doodling on said wall with white chalk.

A bold black and white claw foot tub is the focal point of this lovely bathroom that repeats the hues in a graphic and soft rug. Warm woods add to the composition.

Vintage floor tiles meld with shower curtains with a traditional pattern on them. A black and white claw foot tub completes the look.

Large planes are covered in either white or black in this bold bathroom. What makes the look so successful is the visual movement created by the texture in the different tile shapes. On the wall, a herringbone motif in white, and on the floor a hexagon-shaped matte black tile.

You don't need much else in a bathroom when you've got such a dynamic black and white pattern in a floor tile.

A black painted ceiling caps an otherwise all-white bathroom. Lots of small penny tiles on the floor and subway tiles on the wall give the whole space a lot of texture, too.

The show piece is the cute floor in this bathroom, that also mixes beige in with its black and white. Framed black and white art atop a bold vintage wood chest helps tie wood into the color palette.

More proof that a black and white floor tile with a busy pattern can be all you need to take an all-white modern bathroom to bold.

Black shows up in interesting spots in this bathroom — the window trim, the mirror edge, the sink's industrial pipe legs, the trash can — balancing with the dark grout of the white subway tile bath surround and contrasting with the light colored, knotty wood floor.

A black ceiling (painted) and a bold black floor (tiled) sandwich a bathroom with glossy subway tile walls with white grout, making for quite the contrast on large planes.

A black floor made of long tiles set in a herringbone pattern really grounds an all-white bathroom with simple white cabinetry. The small, round black mirror punctuates the space nicely.
