Just look at this building! This photo from Chicago Magazine's September issue made our jaw drop. It's the Gary Comer Youth Center at 7200 South Ingleside Avenue and it's number one on Chicago Mag's top ten list of great 21st century designs cropping up around the city. Definitely worth a read for designophiles and local boosters alike.

Gary Comer was the founder of Land's End and a native of Chicago's South Side. Before his death in 2006, he commissioned the Youth Center design from John Ronan Architects, in an effort to build a sanctuary for young people in a neighborhood with high crime rates. We love the form and the function.

Other picks from the magazine's top ten list include...

Republic Window and Door, Booth Hansen Architects, 927 W. Evergreen Ave.

State Street Village, Murphy/Jahn Architects, 3301 S. State St.

The September issue is on the stands now!
