If you can't get to the beach , but you have a backyard- Family Fun Magazine has some great, do-it-yourself ideas for outdoor crafts and projects.

Let's face it- when school's out and those long summer days are staring you in the face- you might want to have a few of these ideas on hand! We can still remember calling out to our mom, "Mooom, I'm bored..."

Next time you hear that, help them make a tee pee! The materials you'll need include PVC pipes and a canvas tarp. Family Fun says it'll only add up to about $35.

Construct a portable golf course. All you need for this one are some 3 Liter soda bottles and some cardboard tubes from wrapping paper.

One of our favorite things to do is sit in the comfortable chair by our 4th floor brownstone windows and watch the birds in the tree outside. If you make this simple bird feeder , you're sure to attract even more visitors. This one could work for all you apartment dwellers too.

This outdoor stage looks like it takes a bit more building, but it's still relatively simple. Who needs Shakespeare in Central Park? You're sure to have plenty of plays, fashion shows, and games on this stage.
