Blogging Wired: TV Through the Ages
From Bakelite to Plasma. Wired has put together a nice pictorial history of TV design starting with a 1928 GE model all the way up to a 2007 70 inch Sony Bravia LCD. It is really interesting to see how the use of materials has evolved over the years. Liberal use of wood evolved into very organic and brightly colored plastics in the 70’s. Present day sets put an emphasis on what is showing on the screen rather than the actual TV itself….unless you have a 70 inch LCD in your space, then noticing the TV is pretty much inevitable. More pictures after the jump….
