Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: We are a family of four and we live in a small Victorian end of terrace house in the centre of Portsmouth UK. We’ve bought the house nine years ago and since then redecorated throughout twice. We’ve done some structural work to open up the downstairs space as much as possible and make it family friendly. The decor is very eclectic and it’s all done on a very limited budget but I think it reflects our personalities and is just a comfy homely place for us four.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Eclectic, colourful, and comfy
What is your favorite room and why? I love all the rooms for different reasons but if I’ll have to choose just one, it will be the downstairs living/dining area. By knocking down the walls we’ve made it much more family friendly and I love how versatile it is decor-wise.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I would change the downstairs layout by moving the kitchen to the back of the property and installing huge bi-fold doors to give us a nice access to the garden.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The latest addition to our home decor is the gorgeous velvet sofa in olive green from @sofa.com. I’ve been dreaming of owning a velvet sofa since I joined Instagram two years ago, so I’m totally over the moon.
Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? Maybe the Mad Hatter. Our house is fun and a bit wacky so that should be a good match.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Be bold, be brave, and just go for it! At the end of the day it is your home and only you have to love it and feel comfortable in it. Also make the use of your wall space. Walls are often neglected in terms of their decorative potential so make sure you don’t forget about them while decorating your home.
