A good gift is something the recipient wouldn't necessarily get for themselves, but is a little luxury that they would no doubt love to have. For us, books fit the bill perfectly. We usually get ours from the library, but a great novel or coffee table book is always a pleasing addition to our home. Here are two book lists that any lover of all things aesthetic would appreciate...

From Domino, a collection of titles ranging in subject from interior design to art, cookbooks to novels. Oh, and of course domino: The Book of Decorating, natch.

We can always count on The New York Times to pick out a few winners, and their selection of the best Art, Architecture and Design books does not disappoint. We're dying to flip through Spaced Out: Crash Pads, Hippie Communes, Infinity Machines, and Other Radical Environments of the Psychedelic Sixties, really, the title alone sold us. What books will you be giving, or what do you hope to receive?
