Every dog owner thinks that their dog is the best. And they are right! We all have the best dogs in the world. If you’re obsessed with your dog, you are obviously not alone. In fact, nearly half of pet owners prefer to cuddle with their dog, rather than their human partner.

For one couple, their love for their dog inspired them to do something big. Paul Jaszczenski and Lainie Pekich brought home their beloved German shepherd, Kaia, and never wanted to leave her side. They quickly realized that there aren’t many restaurants or bars in their area (Orlando, Florida) that are dog-friendly. Sound familiar? While speaking with Food & Wine, the couple said even when they did find places that were pet-friendly, Kaia would get hot in the Florida heat and she wasn’t happy stuck under a table. They said any time they took her to the dog park, they both would be in need of a cocktail after. Because of that, Paul and Lainie decided to make a change for the better.

That is how Boozehounds was born. Here’s they’re description of the place:

Have you always felt like all your local dog park needed was a place to get a beer? Have you been searching for an environment that was not just dog friendly, but human friendly too? There are many places in Central Florida that offer an outdoor patio for dogs to sit at their owner’s feet, but it’s not much fun when it’s 90 degrees outside and the poor pup is leashed up with nowhere to play. Well, we thought so too. So, we are dedicated to improving the dog-lover’s community by offering a happy and safe environment for both dog owners and their furry kids.

Opening in Summer 2019, Boozehounds will be a bar meant for people and dogs. The 2,000-square-foot bar is inside of retrofitted shipping containers. The drink and food menu will be dog-inspired, with cocktails crafted by Bitters & Bombs Bartending. There will even be a doggy beer on the menu! Not to worry, it isn’t actually an alcoholic drink. It is a chicken-based broth liquid served in a beer-like bottle. The bar will have a lot of additional space, with a 2,000-square-foot deck and an 800-square-foot rooftop bar area. The park is roughly one-third of an acre and will be perfect for pooches to run around the turf and natural grass.

If you live in the area or have plans to travel to Orlando, there are a few things to know first. Your dog will need to be spayed or neutered (if over 8 months old) for your pet’s safety. Three vaccines are required: Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella. In order to bring your dog, you will need to a sign up for a membership for them (they’re not required for humans). Membership applications are coming soon to Boozehound’s website. For dogs, it will be about $10 for the day or $140 for an annual membership. Children under 16 are not allowed at the dog park, and pet owners are not allowed to drop off their dog at the park and leave. Because, why would that be any fun for your dog?
