BRAD: Berkeley Ridiculously Automated Dorm

Derek Low, a student at Berkeley, set out to create the most ridiculously automated dorm ever. After watching the video of his room, we'd say he succeeded. From automatic drapes and a morning alarm to a lighting set-up that can be switched to party or romantic-mode, this dorm is like something out of the future. Check out the video after the jump…

This automated dorm seems like the perfect setting for a college student. In the morning, the lights turn on, the drapes open and music plays — a perfect way to drag a sleepy head out of bed. The room also features motion sensor lights, voice activated controls and, what may be the best part, an emergency party button that turns the room into a pulsating, strobe lit dance floor.

If this kid can do this with a dorm room, imagine what he'll be able to do with an entire apartment!
