What I Love About My Small Home:
I love how unencumbered I feel. I have only what I need and love in this little sun-drenched apartment and the small footprint keeps me from the temptation to have anything but that.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
1. Purge Regularly. Don’t keep even one thing in your apartment that you either don’t love or don’t need and for every new thing that comes in, take something out. It doesn’t have to be like items, but regularly looking at what you have really helps you understand which items are adding to your life and which are just taking up space.

2. Bigger is better. I’ve found that a tiny space actually feels smaller and more cluttered when there are many small pieces of art and furniture in it. Having fewer pieces of furniture and art that are scaled to fill the space (but not overwhelm it) actually makes it look bigger.

3. Go to your happy place. Everything in my apartment makes me happy (a/c wall unit aside) – it’s a reflection of me – from the art and treasures I’ve collected on my travels, to the surf board that reminds me that I’m just a flight or drive away from the place where my heart finds its rest.
