I Didn’t Think I Needed a Duvet Cover, but This One Changed My Mind (Bonus: It’s 20% Off!)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve sworn by comforters. They’re one and done, and all you have to do is throw it on the bed and carry on. It doesn’t get much more low-maintenance than that. Duvet covers have intrigued me, but I’ve been hesitant to get one because they’ve never seemed like a necessity. However, a comforter that can also be used as a duvet insert was the perfect excuse to finally give one a try. As a result, when I got the chance to test out Brooklinen’s Luxe Duvet Cover, it seemed like the stars had aligned.
The first thing I noticed about the Luxe Duvet Cover was the vividness of its color. I snagged one of the limited edition prints, which are often different patterns and shades from the essentials. They’re definitely the colors you want to turn to if you prefer bedding that has a little more personality or if you love colors that match the season. Based on how crisp and clean the bright colors were, I can only imagine that it’s equally true for their standard colors like cream and graphite.
The Brooklinen duvet cover is made of 100 percent long-staple cotton and the sateen weave makes it so smooth, giving the fabric a touch of shine. There are ties in each corner and buttons to close everything comfortably inside. Because I was brand new to duvet covers, I worried that I wouldn’t do it right. I mean, there are videos on the internet dedicated to teaching people how to tie duvet covers so they don’t come apart, so I had reason for my doubts. However, I found the process of attaching the cover to my comforter to be straightforward, and it was done in a matter of minutes.
Once I had it gorgeously draped over my bed, I couldn’t wait to sleep in it. I’ve talked before about how much I love my comforter, but the Brooklinen Luxe Duvet Cover elevated it! I got to enjoy everything I adore about my comforter along with the added bonus of the creamy-smooth feel of the duvet cover. It didn’t add a ton of weight, which meant I didn’t overheat while I slept; and it gave me the chance to change up the look of my bedding without buying a brand new comforter. I knew I was sleeping in my own bed, but it felt like I was on vacation! The duvet cover also held in place really well. By the time I needed to readjust the insert, it was laundry day and the bedding needed to be washed anyway.
Even though I thought I was strictly a comforter person, I’m going to have to change my ways. This duvet cover has been easier to store, takes up much less space in the closet, and it’s an efficient method of swapping out my bedding without adding a lot of thickness. I also just really love how it makes me feel. I can’t help but snuggle deep into my sheets whenever it’s there, and getting up in the morning is a struggle because of how buttery-soft the duvet cover is. The holidays are right around the corner, and Brooklinen is currently offering 20 percent off for Cyber Monday — maybe I’ll gift myself with the Cream shade!
