Brooklinen Just Launched “Utility Bedding” and Our Beds Will Never Be the Same
It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Brooklinen. Since their early Kickstarter days way back in 2014 to the recent opening of their first brick and mortar shop, we’ve watched the brand grow and grow to include more and more of our favorite things. So at this point, we almost feel like we should be throwing a baby shower for the brand when new products are added to the Brooklinen family. Or, we could just buy them on sale to celebrate!

Brooklinen’s latest launch is a small line they call Utility Bedding. They’re the basics—mattress pad, pillow protector, and mattress topper—that all of us need, or need to replace. The collection also includes the Floyd Mattress, which you can now buy on Brooklinen’s site via the Brooklinen Spaces collection. Even better? Brooklinen pretty much always runs a 10 percent off discount on their site, meaning that you can snag the products in this new collection for less.
The Down Alternative Mattress Pad is the first item to check out in the new collection. It’s made with magical microgel fibers, a down alternative that’s pleasantly plush but still provides even support. But don’t be fooled by the name—it’s not actually a gel but in fact a synthetic fiber that has a seriously silky feel. Lots of hotels top their mattresses with a microgel pad, so if you’ve ever had a great night’s sleep that somehow seemed just a little more luxe at a hotel, it may not have just been the mattress but also the pad.
Personally, my favorite thing about having a microgel pad (besides its silky feel) is that it adds a plush layer to your bed without adding heat. After making the switch to a new memory foam mattress, I was waking up hot, but switching to a new microgel pad solved that problem without having to replace the entire mattress. Brooklinen’s mattress pad costs $108 for a Full or Queen, and $128 for a King or Cali King.
There’s also a new Down Mattress Topper if you’re looking for a super plush feel. This topper is ideal for mattresses that don’t have a built-in pillow top, such as a simple memory foam mattress. It adds a thick layer of plush down in between your mattress and fitted sheet for a big boost in comfort and warmth. Since it can be removed, you can also easily give it an occasional spin in the dryer to revive its fluffiness. The topper is on sale for $349 for a Full or Queen and $389 for a King.
New Pillow Protectors are also included in the Utility Collection, at just $28 (Standard) and $38 (King) for a set of two. Now, let’s be honest, pillow protectors are something we should all probably replace more often to extend the life of our pillows and protect against allergens. Brooklinen recommends washing your pillow protectors every time you change your pillowcases and either line-drying them or tumbling dry on low to protect the integrity of the sateen fibers. We can assume that gentle drying will also help prevent the zipper from breaking after just a few uses—probably the biggest pet peeve when it comes to pillow protectors!
