Dishwashing is one chore we don't mind but at this time of the year, when we have a lot of guests and we don't have a dishwasher, the mountain of dishes can seem to be insurmountable. But since it's impossible for us to go to be unless the dishes are done, the trick is to find ways to make it more enjoyable.
As Mary Poppins pointed out, "in every job that must be done there is an element of fun, you find the fun and oops! the job's a game." With that in mind, we put Sarah Coffey's tips into place (we find washing dishes an especially good time to listen to a bunch of newly purchased music); if there's a kid or a goofy friend around we make bubble hats and beards or have a dishwashing race to see who's faster, the washer person or the dryer person (if it's just us, we set a timer; there's nothing like beating a clock to make you feel a sense of satisfaction).
