Little Free Libraries have been popping up all over the place. The mission of this free book swapping community is to build more than 2,510 libraries worldwide. Join in the effort and start building one of your own!

You can build your own unique little library or simply grab some pre-made plans. There are also options to buy the complete ready made structure. Need some inspiration? Check out the gallery of libraries that are already up and running. Here are some tips to keep in mind as get you started.

Make It Green: Use recycled and salvaged materials whenever possible.

Make It Strong: It has to withstand the elements, so create a water tight and wind-resistant structure.

Make It Safe: Adults, kids and animals will be around your structure, so use plexiglas instead of glass, make sure there is no lead paint if using old wood, and make sure metal and wood edges aren't rough.

Make It Count: Register your library with the organization and you will get a Little Free Library sign for your structure. That way yours will count in this effort to spread wisdom, knowledge and create community throughout the world. Your library will also be put on the official map for others to find.

For more information, check out the Little Free Library website. Here is a map of the libraries worldwide.
