Every plant parent dreams of being surrounded by greenery. If you’ve filled the inside of your house with succulents, cacti, fiddle leaf figs, and other potted treasures and your green thumb still wants more, you could try covering the outside of your house with plants, too. That’s exactly what MVRDV, a Netherlands-based architecture and urban design firm, has planned for a building in the Dutch village of Sint-Michielsgestel.

MVRDV recently unveiled designs for the building, called the Green Villa, and it’s a plant lover’s dream come true. It will use a “rack” of shelves to cover the entire exterior of the building with dozens of potted plants, bushes, and trees like forsythias, jasmine, pine, and birch. MVRDV and co-architect Van Boven Architecten wanted to create a project in Sint-Michielsgestel that was both “socially conscious” and “environmentally progressive,” a press release states.

“This design is a continuation of our research into ‘facade-less’ buildings and radical greening,” Winy Maas, founding partner of MVRDV, says in the press release. “The idea from the nineties of city parks as an oasis in the city is too limited. … We should also cover roofs and high-rise facades with greenery. Plants and trees can help us to offset CO2 emissions, cool our cities, and promote biodiversity.”

The building, which is four stories tall, will contain both office and residential space. And don’t worry—if you’re lucky enough to work or live there, you won’t have to water the plants housed on your premises. Each planter will have a sensor-controlled irrigation system that waters the plants with stored rainwater. You’ll just get to enjoy this view.
