I had the pleasure of checking in recently with Carl Hansen & Son, a beautiful example of a contemporary heirloom furniture maker that celebrates its well-made history while crafting innovative and fresh moments for the modern day.

Truly timeless furniture calls attention to itself while maintaining a decidedly supporting role. These are the pieces that can look at home anywhere, the pieces that make a space into a home, a place lived in and loved, no matter the trends that come and go.

Clean, leans lines and natural textures characterize many of the pieces in the showroom, punctuated by a recent collaboration with Paul Smith and Maharam. Fusing heirloom Danish style with bold striping colors by Paul Smith in textiles by Maharam, this collection has a retro feel, and exemplifies how color and texture heighten naturals and neutrals to new levels of cool.

I especially adored the look on the classic wishbone chair! A little bit quirky and fun, while keeping that classic functionality.
