CES 2008: First Impressions

CES 2008: First Impressions

Jan 7, 2008

Although CES doesn't start until today, events for press started on Saturday. We went to CES Unveiled, where the Innovations and Design Engineering Honorees showcased their top tech. We even met someone famous--Veronica de la Cruz of CNN--but no one else besides us was there to help bring you the best of technology for your home. Here's what we found for you in the very first round of CES 2008:

These are from Sonoro, and very sleek. Their marketing gimmick is that they come with white gloves in the box to prevent smudges on the smooth, glossy surface. Gimmicks aside, this line was very intriguing to us and we'll be researching it more for you for you.

Pinnacle, who brought us the Studio Movie Box Plus, had a number of great items at approachable prices. The one above is the PCTV HD Ultimate Stick, which is an over-the-air HD tuner with remote, for using your computer as a TV--it also allows you to record TV to your computer. [Note that they have two versions of the same product, one for PC and one for Mac.] A non-HD version, without remote, is also available.

The Vestalife Ladybug is a tactile, 2.1 speaker doc for iPods, and runs off AC power or 4 AA batteries. We're going to a press event for this event tonight, so we'll bring you more info and more pics.
