Cheap DIY Ikea Home Studio Desk
For the DIY musician on a budget, there’s a cheap way to have the perfect home studio desk/workstation without putting a huge dent in your wallet. Simon McKeon created his very own home studio desk, made entirely from Ikea products. The grand total of his DIY project? Less than 80 bucks.
A proper studio desk can be expensive, ranging from around $200 to upwards of even $1,000. Simon McKeon cleverly re-purposed some Ikea products to create a budget-friendly, ideal workstation that met his needs. He used a Vika Amon table top combined with Vika Curry legs for the desk itself and built a small shelf using a Lack wall shelf supported by Capita legs. With the shelf in place, he was able to place his monitor and speakers on top and tuck away his midi keyboard underneath. Simon found a smart and simple way to streamline his music workspace and the final result looks clean and effortless.
