Battery Park has a new ocean-inspired attraction. The SeaGlass Carousel opened to the public on Thursday.
30 luminescent fish (created by the company behind the Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony) are housed in a giant nautilus shell, where they circulate, bob up and down, and also yaw back and forth. The motor is in the floor, so the experience is more like becoming a fish rather than riding one.
The carousel is surrounded by the Tiffany & Co. Foundation Woodland Gardens, designed by Piet Oudolf, his fourth garden at The Battery.
