Check Out This Plant-Packed Bedroom Inside the London Eye
Buckingham Palace is usually the U.K.’s most coveted and prestigious address, but earlier this week, TripAdvisor Rentals and Wayfair officially had the Queen beat when they converted a pod inside the London Eye—yes, the world famous ferris wheel that overlooks the Thames River—into a luxury penthouse experience.
With 360-degree views of the London skyline, including a primo spot in front of Big Ben, this unique pop-up rental was inspired by the rainforest, giving guests an isolated, in-the-middle-of-nowhere vibe, except it was smack in the middle of the sprawling London metropolis. Inside the pod, geometric and palm print pillows, hanging birdcages, a Moroccan-inspired rug, woven baskets, and a high back wicker chair rounded out a lush forest of greenery to transform the sleeping quarters into something magical.
Making history as the first overnight guests on the London Eye were two Spanish residents, Beatriz Gaspar-Perez and her son, who won a competition launched earlier in the year that allowed them the unique opportunity to snooze under the stars in the London Eye (But don’t worry, the Eye’s usual gradual motion was stopped while they slept.). Get a glimpse into their overnight experience with this incredible time-lapse video that would make any room with a pretty view envious.
And if you’re sitting there gawking in envy yourself since you missed out on staying in this incredible space (hey, we don’t blame you), know that at the very least you can book some incredible experiences for your next set of travels, whether they be at the London Eye or elsewhere. TripAdvisor Rentals spokesperson Laurel Greatrix tells us, “We have private islands, luxe penthouse suites, jungle treehouses, beachfront villas, ski chalets and more, available in destinations all over the world.”
