Flipping through the Spring issue of CS Interiors, we noticed that one of the recipients of the 2008 AIA Honor Award for Interior Architecture is based here in Illinois. Thomas Roszak designed his own home in suburban Northfield - a glass house with gorgeous views and open family spaces...

From the American Institute of Architects: "Thomas Roszak, AIA, designed his own house to be an exploration of how to foster interaction among family members even while each person is engaged in different tasks in different rooms..."

"...To this end, the 8,200-square-foot house eliminates the redundancy of the typical suburban family room/living room combination, places the kitchen next to the children's playroom, leaves the entire first floor unenclosed and uses glass paneled walls to further its sense of unencumbered interaction."

You can buy a book complete with photos, design, and construction details through Roszak/ADC Architects. For the full list of honorees, check out the AIA's Honor Awards Page.

Congratulations, Thomas!
