Chip Gaines Wants To Fund Your Business—Again
Chip Gaines is looking to make your dreams come true… again.
You may recall that last October, the “Fixer Upper” alum/home renovation king launched a new platform called Chipstarter (you know, like Kickstarter) to help a few lucky folks achieve their wildest dreams.
“There’s no dream or goal too big. Whether it’s a business you want to start, a new skill you want to learn, or something that you never believed you’d accomplish—know that you are capable of extraordinary things,” the website reads. “Record a video of yourself that explains your dream and how Chip can be a runway to help make it happen.”
A “runway” is what Chip calls the starting place to help people’s dreams take off. Last year when he launched round one, the website explained that Chip’s desire to help others achieve their dreams is rooted in the generous people who gave him a leg up when he was struggling. “Some of his dreams worked out and some didn’t, but without the people who believed in him, he knows he wouldn’t be where he is today,” the page read. “Chip wants to help your dreams take off, and this is his way of doing just that.”
Last year, Gaines chose six winners from more than 2,700 video submissions. According to PEOPLE, in the year since, the organization has done everything from sending a military veteran to photography school to purchasing a home that will become a safe hangout for boys in a high-poverty area.
Finalists will head to Magnolia’s headquarters in Waco, Texas, for this year’s Silobration, the annual fall festival hosted by Chip and wife Joanna, October 19-20. Submissions open for this round of Chipstarter on September 4.
