With fuel prices so high and the weather warming up, many of us are actually using our bicycles for more than holding up the wall. If you've ever tried to haul more than a backpack or messenger bag on a road bike, you'll know exactly why I'm posting about a bike that can carry some heavy cargo.
We've highlighted Civia's Loring cycles in the past, but the Halsted, or what Civia calls its "truck bike" can carry a cooler to a picnic or outdoor summer concert, a stack of pizzas for delivery or a decent load of DIY supplies from your local hardware store.
The center of gravity has been lowered to better carry a heavy load and the front deck is manufactured in Minnesota from upcycled high density polyethylene (ReHDPE) and made from municipal trash dumpsters, among other things.
The frameset can be had for $575 through Bikes Online.
For full specs, check out Civia's Halsted product page.
