I really wanted a place that had some integrity, and especially a place that was very California,” she describes.

But after 11 years in this dreamy 1923 California bungalow, the creative couple both agree that they lucked out in finding such a family-friendly and community-oriented neighborhood.

The former textile factory-turned-modern loft building is now home to Sandy and her fiancé Mike; they’ve lived here for about two years with their friendly labsky (labrador husky mix) Bowie.

The huge loft is a mixture of eclectic fun (and like their friends claim–we could have stayed all day looking at everything).

Quite larger than most AT House Tours, they manage to make the space feel warm and cozy, despite its enormous size. It turns out that the space was once an automobile showroom displaying Italian cars in the 1920s.

Washington home was an adventure in itself, with more twists and turns than a spy thriller novel. Clinging to a dramatic hillside, the post and beam residence expresses its pedigree with a variety of original midcentury architectural details, all complimenting its most impressive feature: an expansive hillside view of Pasadena and the Angeles Forest.

I did not think we were going to get it.

From the outside, the seemingly modest, stream-lined house offers a unique view of the city, including the Griffith Observatory.

Living in a small, but airy studio in Downtown Los Angeles, she resides four floors above the streets and rides her bike to work, successfully avoiding the “joys” of traffic.

High ceilings and interesting, multi-level mid-century architecture allow natural light to flood in from every direction, bouncing off the simple white walls.

Name: Tyler Parker (a photographer) and Kelsey Harper (a custom floral designer) and their 2-year-old, Harrison Harper Location: Eagle Rock — Los Angeles, California Size: 1,600 square feet Years lived in: 1 years; Rented Tyler and Kelsey have been thoroughly enjoying their East Los Angeles home. Making room for a baby on the way while raising a 2-year-old, they’ve somehow managed to create a home that is not only beautiful but incredibly functional as well.
