Name: Lee Tilghman Location: Koreatown, Los Angeles Years lived in: 8 months, renting When Lee Tilghman moved from New York City to Los Angeles a little over two years ago, she initially rented another apartment. But the building this Koreatown apartment is located in had great bones, Art Deco details, “amazing light and was central to everything I wanted to get to in LA,” says Lee. So she made the move to where she lives now!

Name: RJ and Francis, 2 Dogs, 2 Fish, 1 Tortoise Location: Miracle Mile — Los Angeles, California The Basics: Rented for 3 years | 1,250 square feet RJ and Francis’s home is classic L.A. cool. They’ve managed to blend their styles without (too much) argument and even uncovered a surprise space!

Name: Ujjaini and Adit Location: Los Angeles, California This is such a great example of thoughtful and practical design. Ujianai and Adit built a great backyard that is not only inspired by their enviornment, but designed to help it. From Ujjaini and Adit: When we bought our house two and a half years ago, we knew the backyard needed work. We were lucky to make a large enough outdoor space and good weather to enjoy it all year around.

Name: Steph Location: Silverlake — Los Angeles, California I moved into this studio apartment in Silver Lake, CA about a year and a half ago after some very tough years financially. My friend was moving to the Bay Area with her now soon to be husband so I was able to get the apartment before it went on the market. I figured that since she had so many great life experiences in this place that maybe some of those positive vibes would stick around in the space.

Name: Eric Stauble and Patrick Maziarski Location: Mid-City — Los Angeles, California Size: 1,400 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Owned Welcome to the very creative home of Eric Stauble and Patrick Maziarski, who are both immersed in the creative design world. With an eclectic mix of custom-designed, reupholstered and vintage pieces, this home offers the best of indoor and outdoor living.

Name: Amber & Ryan Location: Downtown — Los Angeles, California We ended up with a lease on this massive two story industrial loft inside a 1900s factory building completely by chance 18 months ago, when our best friends had to move out unexpectedly after investing thousands of dollars into building it out as a living space. They just wanted their investment to stay in the family.

Name: Nick McPhail Location: Silver Lake — Los Angeles, California Size: 650 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Rented With the price of rent quickly increasing every year in Los Angeles, artist Nick McPhail was lucky to grab this perfect little home all for himself. Complete with a backyard that houses an organic garden and a ceramics studio, this home embodies the ideal of a live/work space.

Name: Dustin Lancaster and Maya Brenner, kids Jack and Sadie, and dog Roxy Location: Silver Lake — Los Angeles, California Size: 2,700 square feet (house) Years lived in: 6 months; Owned Hard-working entrepreneurs Dustin and Maya can now add their beautiful six-month home renovation to the long list of productive ventures they’ve accomplished in the last year.

Name: Jaclyn Johnson and David Kaul and their dog, Noah Wiley Location: Los Feliz — Los Angeles, California Size: 1,000 square feet Years lived in: 2.5 years; Rented It’s been well over a year since I last visited Jaclyn Johnson, founder of Create & Cultivate, at her incredible little home in Los Feliz. Since then, her now-fiancé, David Kaul, has moved in, and they are enjoying their engagement in their home’s beautiful mix of feminine and masculine styles.

Name: Lindsey O’Donnell Location: West Hollywood — Los Angeles, California Size: 1,550 square feet Years lived in: 2.5 years; Owned If one thing’s for sure, it’s that interior designer Lindsey O’Donnell is not afraid of color. From Blackberry Wine to Midnight Navy to Black, O’Donnell’s paint choices are pretty fearless. Inspired by the bold interiors of designer Mary McDonald, O’Donnell’s lavish lair is anything but modest.

Name: Erin Location: Downtown — Los Angeles, California Mehmet Bozatli and Erin Eisinger say that despite their strong personalities, they find a natural harmony when collaborating — which they do often. Both work in the creative industries (he as an architect and developer, Erin as an interaction and service designer), and they co-founded their first joint venture —FourByNorth Studios— in Istanbul, Turkey, nearly six years ago.

Name: Joyce Pickens and her dog, Mouse Location: Mid-City — Los Angeles, California Size: 670 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Rented When interior designer Joyce of JDP Interiors sent in her House Call, I knew we had to see more of this lovely layered space. The green path to her doorstep is an oasis in the middle of the city, as is the warm, welcoming home that she has created.

Name: Alison and Jay Carroll and dog Lefty Location: Los Feliz — Los Angeles, California Size: 1200 square feet Years lived in: 2 years Alison and Jay are a creative husband and wife team who find inspiration from around the globe. As recent Los Angeles transplants from San Francisco, the couple and their dog, Lefty, enjoy soaking up the Southern California sunshine in their cozy Franklin Hills apartment.

Name: Margaux Location: Echo Park — Los Angeles, California We have a beautiful sun filled apartment in Echo Park, LA. The house itself is an Arts and Crafts/Craftsman bungalow type, originally built as a triplex in a historic neighborhood full of beautiful old Victorians and Arts and Crafts homes.

Name: Elizabeth and Jeremy, their dog, Wally, and their cats, Milo and Patrick Location: West Los Angeles, California Size: 1,500 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Rented If you wake up on an overcast Sunday morning in Los Angeles and are wondering where you can score a fresh slice of homemade pizza and a carefully crafted cappuccino, then please allow me to direct you to the home of Elizabeth Berger and Jeremy Roth. When I arrived at their West L.A.

Name: Kristen Tola Hettich Location: Burbank, CA Size: 900 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; Rented When my friend Kristen decided to redecorate her bedroom last year, she enlisted a professional interior designer to help her out. That project lit a fire under her to tackle the remainder of the entire home on her own. Kristen is a food, fashion, and interior prop stylist who is very good at mixing patterns and is not afraid of color!

Location: Los Angeles, California Katie is a photographer and submitted some gorgeous photos of her friends Matt and Ellen’s home! From Katie: “Ellen has a brilliant design mind and works at Sugar Paper LA. Matt is a writer/director/actor. They just received their two foster kids – the most precious twin boys. Name: David Location: Echo Park/Angelino Heights; Los Angeles, California Size: 1,000 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Rented On a street filled with beautiful old homes, David has filled one unit of a beautiful old fourplex with every trinket, memento, and piece of quirky art that can fit under one roof.

Name: Cat Location: Downtown Los Angeles, California My fiancé Alex and I live in the heart of DTLA’s historic core, a step away from all our favorite bars and restaurants. We love the excitement and bustling energy of this reviving community, but it’s nice being able to escape into our calm, monochromatic oasis. Our loft is less than 800 square feet in size but the high ceilings and large private outdoor terrace make the space feel airy and spacious.

Name: James Burial and his adorable dog, Penny Location: Highland Park; Los Angeles, California Size: 600 square feet Years lived in: 9 months; Rented I met James a couple years ago at SHOPCLASS, where he runs the show in all things vintage. I figured he had a fond appreciation and awe for mid-century furnishings and details from decades past, and once I heard that he’d handmade his own dining table and chairs, I knew I had to invite myself over for a tour. I’m so happy he said yes.

Name: Pamela Salzman Location: Manhattan Beach, California Size: 3,850 square feet Years lived in: 9 years; Custom built, designed and own When I was invited to shoot Pamela Salzman’s gorgeous home in Manhattan Beach, I jumped at the opportunity. She and her family love living in this incredible two-story home equipped with a kitchen to die for! Pamela is an established food blogger who offers incredible recipes through cooking classes and custom-designed menus for one-on-one clients.

Name: Joyce Location: Los Angeles, CA My little house is my ultimate happy place! I work in the interior design field so the aesthetic of my home and the state of my surroundings are very important to me. Before finding this little gem I was living in an apartment building and yearned for an entertainment space- somewhere that looked out into lush greenery. I couldn’t have gotten more lucky! It’s a bohemian wonderland with a porch that wraps around to reveal a romantic hammock.

Name: Brandon Kleinman Location: West Hollywood; Los Angeles, CA Years lived in: 4 years; Rented Bachelors may have a reputation for maintaining less-than-desirable living quarters, but as the founder and CMO of online interior design firm Laurel & Wolf, Brandon Kleinman refused to fall victim to such stereotypes.

Name: Erick Millan Location: Burbank, California Size: 650 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Rented When Erick hired me to shoot his home for his new interior design portfolio, I immediately wanted to share it as a house tour because it exemplifies how easy it is to bring beautiful organic style to maximize a modest-sized home. It is his first completed design project and it is very, very special.

Name: Chris and Madgi Del Moro Location: Los Angeles, CA Size: 650 square feet Years lived in: 2 1/2 years; Rented Soulmates Chris and Madgi live to explore Mother Earth. Both artists, they find their inspiration in their travels around the world, and they bring that creativity back home to Los Angeles. Chris is an artist, musician, and professional surfer and his handiwork is abundant in the newlyweds’ home, from the paintings on the wall to the studio he built.

Name: Sweatson Klank Location: Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA Size: 900 square feet Years lived in: 10 years; Rented As soon as you walk into Sweatson’s home, the living area is spacious, inviting and warm. My first observation is that Sweatson is an artist who has a knack for collecting things.

Name: Heather Lipner / Clashist Location: Downtown Fashion District; Los Angeles, CA Size: 1,600 square feet Years lived in: Less than a year; Rented Clashist is a fun fashion line that emblazons everyday wear with sentimental pop culture throwbacks. Their t-shirts, leggings, and accessories honor icons like Joan Rivers, Beavis & Butt-head, Bill Murray and so on. Welcome to their new digs in Downtown LA!

Name: Gregory Keith Metcalf Location: Downtown Arts District; Los Angeles, CA Size: 1,500 square feet Years lived in: Less than a year; Rented Fellow photographer Greg Metcalf and I have been friends for years. A move from the suburbs of Silver Lake to the Arts District of Downtown LA has offered Greg quite a contrast in architecture, neighborhood, and lifestyle. I jumped at the chance to shoot his new place; I love a good loft and this home exemplifies the true meaning of live/work space.

Name: Kristin, Derek, and their children, Jackson and Luella Location: Hollywood Hills; Los Angeles, CA Size: 1500 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; Owned Nestled amidst the storied hills of Laurel Canyon, Kristin and Derek’s rustic home is every bit as charming as you can imagine. Laurel Canyon is famous for its past musical residents,- Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, David Crosby, Graham Nash, the list goes on and on.

Name: Savannah Farris-Gilbert Location: Los Angeles, CA Size: 650 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; rent Interior Designer Savannah Farris-Gilbert grew up in Los Angeles, raised by designers and artists. She believes there is an ease about growing up in LA and in the way in which people here interact with space. “Shoes were always kicked off my the door, there were always rugs underfoot, sun streaming through windows, the outside was very much a part of the indoors.

Name: Simran Winkelstern Location: West Hollywood; Los Angeles, California Size: 750 square feet- 1 bedroom + 1 bath Years lived in: 1.5 years; Rent Simran’s home is a one bedroom in a gorgeous triplex right in West Hollywood, filled with welcoming charm. She’s placed plenty of importance on comfort and livability, but her design talent and personal style are what bring this space to life. Simran believes that, when designing a home, you need to consider both practicality and style.

Name: Logan Location: Los Feliz – Los Angeles, CA My building was built in the 1923 and has a lot of great period details- brass doorknobs, the original icebox and a built in vanity- that I find really charming. I like living in a building that has some much history and character. I also really enjoy the neighborhood and being able to walk to a movie theater, restaurants and a coffee shop. It’s a luxury in Los Angeles!

Name: National Forest // Co-Founded by Seven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer Location: Atwater Village; Los Angeles, California Size: 2,400 square feet Years lived in: We’ve been in this building for seven years. We were down the road before that and a home-loft in the very beginning. National Forest is a design firm and creative consultancy located in Atwater Village.

Name: Eric Location: Los Angeles, CA Where do I even begin!? I once dreamed of living in a small flat, next to a hill with a giant tree outside front and the sidewalk, city streets below me. My home is the perfect example of putting that energy out into the universe and creating it. Gramercy Gardens is the name of my building that was constructed in the 1920’s. Its a four floor walk up, with accordion elevator doors and a New York style fire escape out front, with a brick edifice.

Name: Winston Location: Boyle Heights – Los Angeles, CA Winston is an architecture student who recently made the move from NYC to Los Angeles for school.
