Estela & Ada’s “Waldessori” Playroom & Enchanted Sunroom
Names: Estela Luz and Ada Maria (2.5 and 9 months)Location: Takoma Park, MD Danielle has two wonderful spaces to share with us today: her daughters’ “Waldessori” playroom and their artsy sunroom: Ada, our little one, is on the move. Today I turned my back and found her in the middle of a large pile of tiny slobbery bits of paper and decided it was time to re-think the playroom – shift everything up a level and create some inviting play spaces for both girls.

Doryn’s Gorgeous Kid Oases
Name: two children (4 and 1)Location: West Village, New York City Doryn grew up in a house in which the kid options were few and far between. While she did not wish to turn her home over to her kids, Doryn successfully created wonderful kid friendly places that integrate well into the overall design. In addition to each of her two children’s bedrooms, there is a great playroom on the ground floor.

Mildrid’s Elephant Sanctuary
Name & Age: Mildrid, 7 weeksLocation: Chicago, IL Room Size: 11×9 feet Mildrid is brand new, but she already has a beautiful art collection and a wonderful library, all thanks to her parents, Jurgita and Vlad. They worked hard to put together this lovely room in anticipation of Mildrid. She is still rooming in with her folks, just down the hall in the very room where she was born. When she makes the move to her crib Mildrid is sure to love this room that started with an elephant and a girl.

Stella’s Room or Daddy’s Office? Both!
Name: Stella (6)Location: Alamo Square neighborhood, San FranciscoRoom Size: 10′ x 16′ (160 s.f.), not including closet We have featured shared rooms before but they usually focus on how two or three siblings occupy one space. An example which we do not see as much is a shared space between a parent and a child. This is exactly what Tiffanie did in her San Francisco apartment, where every square foot counts.

My Room: Felicity
Just because their housing is temporary doesn’t mean Jessica wasn’t enthusiastic to create a beautiful room for her daughter. She shares: My husband and I live at Hanscom Air Force Base in standard base housing that’s about 60 years old. Just imagine primer white walls and beautiful old wooden floors. As soon as we found out we were expecting our first child, my mind started running wild with all of the decorating possibilities for the nursery.

Her work whole-heartedly celebrates the bold shapes, patterns and colors from the 60’s and 70’s – one can’t help feel a bit nostaligic when admiring her designs. When it was time to create a space for her daughter Polly, she replicated this passion for vintage and retro design.

Names & Ages: Phia, 12 and Anthony, 5Location: Yonkers, NYRoom Size: Approximately 200sf Sara has a knack for organizing and zero tolerance for clutter. Both of these traits are clearly evident in Phia and Anthony’s shared bedroom. It’s no easy task to divide a room between a twelve-year-old girl and her five- year-old brother but a combination of cleverly arranged shelving units, distinctive paint colors and a few good-natured children make it all work wonderfully.
