The Best Small Space Cleaning Advice—According to People Who Live in Tiny Homes
The logic should make sense: smaller spaces are easier to clean, right? In reality, small spaces, and even tiny houses, come with their own set of cleaning challenges. If you convert a trailer into a tiny house, you can expect plenty of dirt, grass, and leaves to be tracked in—300 square feet likely doesn’t allow for a mudroom. Since every inch is utilized in a tiny house, that means each surface is prone to messes.

Marie Kondo Showed Us How Her New Organizing Boxes Work
Drawers are my organizational kryptonite (OK, fine, that and the “clothes chair,” if I’m really confessing weaknesses). I can get everything folded up and fairly neat looking, but the first time I need to grab a T-shirt on my way out the door to the gym in a rush? It all goes down one big jumbled slippery slope of messiness. No amount of purging—or even, dare I say, Kon-Mari-ing—has helped. But now, the KonMari architect herself, says she can help.

“We Lost Everything”: How to Stay Resilient in the Face of Hardship
A tragedy can change your circumstances. But it can also change you. The way you wake in the mornings. Where your mind goes when you have a moment to think. And what nobody tells you is that you find yourself wincing whenever the phone rings, practically forever—a Pavlovian response to the moment you picked it up and found your whole world changed. Helen Bayley, co-founder of decor brand Lovestar Australia, got such a phone call one late afternoon last February.

So of course, without hesitation, I said I wanted to be Anthony Bourdain. Could there have been a different answer? For a writer obsessed with food, Anthony Bourdain represented the very best life.

After 20 years of working there, Alvar Aalto’s architecture practice outgrew the modest studio space in his home near Helsinki, and in 1956 he re-located it to a building just down the road. The new spot, designed by Aalto himself, was an architect’s architecture firm, with soaring spaces, wide expanses of glass, and abundant light. In short: it was the perfect space to work.
