When photographer and art director Lee Jameson, who’s also the founder of Prismatic Studios LA, and her partner Aaron, who’s in marketing, bought this Glassell Park house a year ago, they wanted the design to be special. “We have been together for five years and love our three crazy pets and entertaining and watching lots of movies,” she explains. “When we moved into our new home, it was a huge step for us and we really wanted to make it a space we could grow in for years to come.”

The couple worked with Caroline Ingraham Lee and Anne Sage to help them design a space that would be reflective of their personalities. The designers worked on Lee and Aaron’s living room, study, and bedroom, along with a few kitchen updates. Avid entertainers (you know, before the pandemic), the design of the living room features tons of cozy (and colorful) seating options for movie nights. The fireplace was completely renovated for a modern look.

It’s clear from virtually walking through their home that this is a couple that prizes bold ideas and fun elements; every room has something cool in it… including the exterior! Their outdoor area features a vibrant mural by Steph Hendrix.

Our Style: We like an eclectic mix of mid-century modern, whimsical patterns, inviting textures, bright colors, and bold contemporary styles all mixed together. We want a space that is welcoming and fun!

Inspiration: Thanks to genius design duo Caroline Ingraham Lee and Anne Sage, we were able to work with them to transform the space into something out of our wildest dreams. They are insanely talented and fun to work with. We really like to entertain friends and screen movies for groups so we turned the living room into a lounge space with tons of seating. That way we can use the dining table outside, the island, and the extra large coffee table for meals and not have a big dining table take up half of the open space.

Favorite Element: The games room, it’s so cohesive and feels like a cozy little jewel box.

Biggest Challenge: The backyard! In particular making sure the new mural wall was up to city codes and safe. Luckily artist Steph Hendrix saved the day with her beautiful mural design.

Biggest Embarrassment: Our pets kept destroying the rugs so through trial and error we learned that only nylon rugs work for us. Hot tip—avoid viscose rugs; they’re pretty but you cannot clean them, even with water!

Proudest DIY: The fireplace was our only interior tear-out renovation and it feels like the room’s centerpiece. We love how it turned out.

Biggest Indulgence: Probably the custom bookcase in the games room from California Closets, but so worth it.

Best Advice: One of the less expensive elements that had maximum impact in each room was the lighting—adding sconces and pendant lights totally changed the rooms. We got the five kitchen sconces all for under $100. Best bang for the buck!
