A Colorful Kids' Party in the City

Turns out there's a way to throw a 6-year-old a party that's not Pixar themed which can be equally entertaining. Key ingredients include bright colors, old-fashioned balloons, yummy snacks and a playful atmosphere.

This inspiring party is the creation of Melina, who blogs about city life at Mel & Liza. She was asked by a friend to help throw a fun kids party that adults could also enjoy, right in the heart of downtown Manhattan. Clearly she pulled it off, setting up an outdoor table that was full of colorful chevron patterned spoons, tying balloons to the fence, and creating goodie favors that were mason jars full of animal crackers.

The food was all kid and adult friendly; crates of berries, plates of fancy cheese, barrels of pallegrino and lots of bottles wine all mixed together perfectly. It's a great example of kid and adult touches coexisting nicely. Melina, whose also a flower designer, spent next to nothing on the colorful arrangements of country blooms that enhanced the scene.

Check out a tour of the full party at Mel and Liza, with another section devoted to the flowers at the party here.
