ColorTherapy: Black is Beautiful

ColorTherapy: Black is Beautiful

I've been meaning for ages to write a column titled "Black is Beautiful," but never had the right set of pictures until I discovered Flair. Bliss — a new place to shop…

Located at 88 Grand Street in Soho, Flair Home Collection offers European antique and vintage pieces in styles ranging from Napoleon III to Art Deco, Mid-Century to their own exclusive productions. I find their stock to be Continental and classy, contemporary and uncommon. Objets are arranged in such smart triplets and clumps that I learned a thing or two about styling just by walking in the door.

But color-wise, how great is that black wall? It makes silver, white, turquoise and tortoiseshell look completely scintillating. I once asked Emmett at Fine Paints what his favorite black was and he suggested their black off-the-rack. Because it's not tinted it is the most completely undiluted black you can get.

I also like colors that are nearly black but still feel like color. For example, I've written about my own home and Galvanized from Ralph Lauren, and I'm about to use Palace of Versailles on a project, which is actually slightly green.

I'll let a few more Flair pictures speak louder than words. They also have stores in Florence, Milan and Capri. As shopping goes, this is right up my alley.
