Columbia to Build Stairwells Made for Socializing

Plans for a new building on Columbia University's Medical Campus will have the best views of New York, from the staircase. The 14-story building incorporates a "study cascade" where each landing will have floor-to-ceiling windows and lounge areas for socializing and hitting the books. Construction begins next year and the projected finish is 2016.
