We probably shouldn't admit to this, but we get really bummed out when we miss a show we really wanted to watch. It's not often that we find ourselves on our couch in front of the tv, so it's rare when we know there's a show we really want to see. That terrible feeling is one of the main reasons we went ahead and got a DVR.
We don't have our DVR through Comcast, but if we did, we'd most likely download their mobile app. The company we use does not offer a mobile app, but they do have a website where we can schedule to record the shows we want (and we have an iPhone, so it's not a problem).
With the Updated Free Comcast Mobile App for iPhone you can record shows on the go. You can browse through the TV schedule and see what movies, television programs, HD and kids shows are going to come on. The updated version will also include push notifications of email, voicemail and tv show reminders. In the previous version that was a huge misstep, and people noticed.
Other improvements include: upload attachments, access to POP/IMAP folders, and mark emails as spam in your inbox. The Digital Voice service now allows you to forward voice mail as an attachment and the TV Guide allows you to filter TV listings based on categories, reminder management, quick jump navigation bar.
The updated version of the Comcast Mobile App is not yet available for everyone. The myDVR icon in 'The Guide' will only appear if your DVR is ready for remote scheduling. Comcast expects wide availability by summer 2010.
