Finnish design student Hannes Vaht wrote in this morning to share his beautifully designed birch veneer and laminated veneer work desk. Specifically designed for laptop users, the Communication Station was designed for the Stockholm Furniture Fair for his school's "slow now" project, impressively made from recycled materials from previous year's show stands and wall structures, offering some great hide-your-tech features any laptop user will love.
Hannes describes his Communication Station:
This sleek desk is divided into traditional and modern ways to communicate and work. Front part consists of a drawer for traditional tools, and back part is pop-op container for laptop and digital tablet. Paper, pen, laptop and tablet is all you really need. Less is more, and it looks good. Commit to keep your table clean, close your laptop sometimes and see the world around you.
Hannes also reports he received interest in having his design manufactured, but with his carpentry background, balked at the insistence it be made too cheaply in China for mass production. He hopes to find another backer committed to reproducing his design with quality and detail in mind, so asked us to share it with our readership.
