If so, you might think about heeding First Lady Michelle Obama's call to participate in United We Serve, the Administration's nationwide summer of service initiative that will run until September 11th, which will be a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Participating in the program, you're not only creating a better community, you're also creating some real memories...

In Los Angeles, plugging in the keyword "habitat" brings up volunteer opportunites as varied as working on a construction crew with Habitat for Humanity, restoring Mason Park in Irvine or Caspers Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano or being a docent in the open space areas of Puente Hills.
