Cork flooring isn’t nearly as common as say, wood or tile — but once you see how fantastic it looks in these eight spaces, you may be tempted to move it to the top of your list. It offers a warm, natural look, is quite durable and has just a little bit of give underneath, perfect for any space you want to be both beautiful and comfortable.

Cork comes in sheets and also tiles, and some cork products look remarkably similar to wood flooring. Besides its beauty and comfort underfoot, cork flooring is also quiet, naturally hypoallergenic and mold-resistant, and eco-friendly, since it’s taken from the outer layers of a tree which can then continue growing. It is fairly low-maintenance, but does need to be re-sealed every few years to maintain its durability.

Although not particularly common nowadays, cork floors were once a popular choice for mid-century homes, like this one from The Design Chaser.
