Wondering whether a Costco membership is worth the annual fee? Good news, the bulk retailer has been partnering with local libraries to offer free entry with a library card.

From March 12 through March 18, metro Detroit library cardholders get to see, sample and shop at the warehouse store with a free one-day pass.

According to WXYZ, the Troy Public Library has partnered with Costco and the promotion is valid at all nine southeast Michigan locations: Auburn Hills, Bloomfield, Commerce Township, Green Oak Township (Brighton), Livonia (Haggerty location and Middlebelt location), Madison Heights, Roseville and Shelby Township. Visitors must present a flyer, and if they choose to sign up for a membership, there are $10 and $20 cash cards in it for them.

If you’re not in the Detroit area, don’t despair just yet. Not only can you shop Costco online without a membership, the program could be coming to a city near you. This isn’t the first time Costco has teamed up with libraries and it possibly won’t be the last. In November 2017, the store partnered with a Toledo, Ohio library to offer the same one day pass deal and membership discounts.

We’ve reached out to Costco for more information on the program, and whether more cities are planned. We will update this story if and when we hear from them.
