7 Things You Can Buy at Costco for $10,000 or More
Costco shoppers know how easy it is to drop hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in a single shopping trip. Even with the discounts on offer, all those bulk packages of toilet paper, tubs of mayo, and multipacks of cereal can quickly add up. What you might be surprised to find, though, is that the megastore also stocks a bunch of big-ticket items starting at $10,000 that’ll make your $250 shopping trip look like chump change. Read on for some of the biggest surprises…
Diamond rings
Planning to get engaged? You may want to steer your S.O. over to Costco for your ring. The store offers dozens of options with high-quality diamonds and other precious stones like rubies and sapphires in nearly every cut imaginable. The majority of the rings fall in the $10,000 to $25,000 range, but if that doesn’t do it for you, rest assured because… right now, the priciest bauble—a 10-carat solitaire—rings up at a whopping $419,999.99.
Cars
Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that a store the size of an airplane hangar also deals cars, but not many people realize you can buy a new or used vehicle at Costco. The store’s Auto Program lets you search for your desired make and model online, then it directs you to an authorized dealer who will give you the lowdown on the fixed member-only price (which means you can skip the wheeling and dealing common among typical auto sellers). This applies even to high-end luxury cars, including the 2019 Jaguar XJ, which has a starting price of $75,000.
Barns
If you’ve always dreamed of building a barn on your property, Costco’s got you covered. The store teamed up with a company called Barn Pros Nationwide, which sells traditionally styled barn kits in three floorplans and three sizes, starting at $26,000.
Vacation packages
Costco’s travel program offers exclusive discounts on tons of different vacation packages: African safaris, all-inclusive Caribbean resorts, guided European tours, even family trips to theme parks like Disneyland and Universal Orlando. Trips include airfare, meals, gratuities, and sometimes a Costco gift card (presumably so you keep coming back even after your trip is over).
Private jet membership
Believe it or not, Costco has even taken to the air. The store offers year-long memberships to a private plane company, Wheels Up, which operates a fleet of 90 jets nationwide. The cost: $15,999.99. But never having to fly commercial again? Priceless.
High-end appliance suites
Costco proves yet again that buying in bulk pays with its kitchen packages, which include anywhere between two and four appliances (typically a fridge and stove, with a dishwasher or microwave). Everything is high-tech and comes from top-of-the-line brands like LG Signature. If that doesn’t sell you, many of the packages also offer rebates, so the savings just keep on coming.
Modular treehouses
This is the stuff childhood dreams are made of—a play set of three free-standing treehouses with six decks, four slides, five swings, two rock walls, two sandboxes, a rope ladder, and even a drawbridge. At a total of 160 square feet, it’s big enough to entertain an entire kindergarten class. Of course, all that fun comes at a cost: $12,999.99 to be exact.
