We all have our nighttime routines. Yours is probably some variation on brushing your teeth, washing your face, and getting into bed. But when you get into bed, do you have a side that you’ve claimed as yours that you always sleep on? Or does it depend on the night? We thought everybody has a “side” of the bed they prefer to sleep on. But this viral Twitter thread about a couple that doesn’t sleep on the same side of the bed every night proves that’s not true.

Here’s the tweet that started it all from Jeff Stein, a reporter at The Washington Post. It began as a simple recollection of an anecdote the couple told him a few months ago. But it’s grown into a viral thread of outrage.

Stein’s tweet has over 65,000 likes and hundreds of replies. Most Twitter users can’t believe that a couple wouldn’t choose sides of the bed, and they have a LOT of questions about the logistics of this sleeping arrangement.

Some people are downright mad. And honestly, we don’t blame them. It’s a lot to take in.

Some people who live alone chimed in to say they have a side of the bed.

Others are pointing out that even their pets gravitate toward the same spot every night.

Some people admitted to switching sides in hotel rooms.

But for the most part, the consensus is that not having a side of the bed=anarchy.

Of course, your sleep habits are just that—yours. If you and your partner don’t have your own “sides” of the bed and you don’t care to, then more power to you. But if you ever bring it up on Twitter, be prepared for tons of questions from those who are loyal to one side of the bed over the other.
