Cover Wall Heater With Shelves

Renting an apartment can present a plethora of problems that frankly, as renters, we can't do much about. There's no way to move appliances that are inconveniently located. So, we're left to try to do the best we can to cover them up.

Ryan and Lizzie Lewis submitted their solution to having a wall heater in their living room to IKEA Hacker. Using LACK shelving they framed out the area for the storage unit. Next they applied plywood to the wall to attach the flooring to, because they rent they couldn't put the flooring directly on the wall — they used Tundra Laminate Flooring as the backdrop.

Next they hung shelves over the wood flooring for storage purposes and decoration. They also used a screen they previously purchased from West Elm to actually cover up the heater without fully closing it off. We really love this IKEA hack because it's super easy and can solve a variety of problems while renting. If you aren't interested in the trouble of using flooring on the wall, you could just use a painted piece of plywood instead. You'd get the same effect, just a different color.
