Crate & Barrel’s Gothic Halloween Collection Includes Skull Candles and Witches’ Brooms
From gothic skull incense burners to witchy cauldron bowls, Crate & Barrel’s collection of Halloween centerpieces and other home goods this year is full of treats. The furniture and home decor retailer collaborated with PATCH NYC, a Boston-based design studio founded by Don Carney and John Ross, for the frightful collection that debuted this week. The result is a modern, gothic collection that’s “one part vintage ephemera, one part folklore frights,” per Crate & Barrel’s site. The collection invokes the type of home decor that could be seen in the Halliwell mansion à la “Charmed.”
Cats and skulls appear to be the main theme in the collection, which includes two black wax candles in the shape of a cat and a skull. Each candle is carved with intricate, textile patterns that really give them an artistic touch. There’s also a variety of dinnerware—plates and bowls with cats, skulls, bats, and crows, as well as spatulas and measuring spoons. And who could resist an old-fashioned cocktail in a glass adorned with miniature bats? Other products include felt and ceramic pumpkins, gothic black garlands, witches’ brooms, and a taper candle.
