Just because winter is approaching doesn't mean we're heading inside--at least not in Southern California. We're looking forward to taking our favorite cozy blanket and cup of coffee out on the stoop to take in the fresh morning air. We are afforded a little privacy by our stucco stair railing but some folks have to create their own hidden oasis.

Running around the Silver Lake reservoir last week, we noticed a back porch that was made private by a room divider. To us, it seemed to be the perfect amount of privacy and easy enough to move (or fold up) if you wanted full sunlight. A room divider outdoors is also great for when you share your patio with a nosy neighbor. If you've got a green thumb, plants potted in containers that line your space might be the way to go. Laure suggests bamboo for small gardens--or make your vegetable garden pull double duty.

How do you create privacy at home when you're enjoying time spent outdoors?
