Creating Space: Storage Solutions for the Bathroom

While I am fortunate to have some built-in storage in my bathroom, I have the unfortunate compulsion to buy every single product known to man. Oh, you mean that will defrizz my hair on days when the humidity is precisely 72.3%? Need it! For those afflicted with the same product disease (or just low on storage space), here are ideas to regain some space.

Add some shelves: If you don't have the space, add it. These Storage Shelves with Doors are particularly nice because they are narrow, provide shelving on top, but also help you hide all of your eye creams, wrinkle creams and hair products from plain view thanks to the frosted glass doors. The shelves are available in hi-gloss white or white wash for $99.95 from CB2.

Take advantage of under sink space: There are no drawers in my bathroom which could easily make for a mess of cords and cleaning supplies under the sink. Baskets are great for keeping this area organized. This Hide N Sink Storage from Umbra creates even more space and puts those items you use frequently easily within reach. Available for $21 from Umbra.

Hide the TP in plain sight: I don't have guests over too frequently, but when I do I don't want them left searching for a replacement roll of toilet paper. The Forma® Bath Tissue Canister stores 3 rolls of toilet paper without taking up a lot of valuable space (or looking like it's storing toilet paper). Available for $27.99 from The Container Store.

Organize that shower: Recently my husband cleaned the shower and attempted to throw out half of the 17 products I have in there claiming that I didn't use them. Wrong! We compromised that I just needed to organize them better. The Super Shower Storage is a great solution because it can not only attach to your shower head, but also to your curtain rod. Available for $26 from Urban Outfitters.

Use the door: For those who suffer from towel rack deficiency (as I do with only one), over the door racks or hooks create an alternative towel storage option. The Classico Overdoor Towel Rack has three towel bars and an attractive streamlined design. Available for $14.99 from The Container Store.
