10608_feltedvase.JPGTake a look at this colorful reuse from Louise—felted wool is a great way to recycle an old sweater in a very creative way. Jump below for instructions.

Object(s):Arms from a wool sweater

Project:Flower vase "sleeve"

Instructions:Throw your old wool sweater in the washing machine and wash in hot water. (This felts the wool, making it stiff and tough enough to chop into). Cut whatever shapes you like in the sleeve, be it diamonds, squares, or circles, etc. Fit a glass cylinder in, and happily display your fresh flowers.

Inspiration:Louise is a knitter by trade, and she found inspiration a while back for recycling wool sweaters and adding her own element. But it was her niece who helped her design the flower vases, now available for sale on Etsy at The Hole Thing's shop. She'd knit a sweater for her niece, but the decision was made to turn that article of clothing into a came the sleeves, and this precious project was born.
